Subscription Plans
Benchmark offers two types of plans: Free and Pro. The free plan allows you to test the account before upgrading to a Pro plan. The free plan is limited to 500 contacts, one private domain, and 2,500 sends per month. If you are sending from a shared domain, the sending limit is different; please see the plan comparison section for the shared domain sending limit.
The Pro Plan has different Contact limits, which set how many contacts can be stored in your account and how many emails you can send in a month.
Plan Comparison
Pro Plans are based on the number of contacts you can import in your account. Sending limits vary depending on whether you use a shared or private domain. Refer to the table below for a comparison between Free and Pro plans, including how your domain type can impact your sending volume.

Domains
This is the number of private domains that can be added to the account. Free accounts can only have one private domain, while Pro plans can add up to 10 domains.
Private Domain Send Limit
This is how many emails your account can send when sending from private domains. Free accounts can only have one domain. A domain is not considered private until it has been verified.
Send Limit for Shared Domains
If you're sending from a shared domain (i.e., you haven't verified your domain), your sending limit is based on your account’s contact limit. Emails sent from shared domains use a "From" address like: email.company@benchmarksend.com.
To increase your sending limit and improve email deliverability, we recommend verifying your domain. Click here to learn how to verify your domain. Once your domain is verified, your sending limit will be updated. The sending limit may take up to 24 hours to reflect on the Plans and Billing page.
Additional Users
This refers to the number of team members an account owner can invite to access the account. Each added user will have their own login credentials. Users can send emails and manage contacts, added users can not make billing changes.
An additional fees apply for each user added. Click here to learn more about User Management.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is considered an active contact?
Active contacts are email addresses that can successfully receive your emails (i.e., they are deliverable). Contacts who have bounced, unsubscribed, or marked your emails as spam are considered inactive and are excluded from your active contact count.
Does Benchmark count duplicate contacts?
No. Each unique email address is only counted once, even if it appears in multiple lists. All contacts are stored in a single main database. This means no matter how many lists a contact belongs to, it will only count as one contact toward your plan limit.
If I have a Benchmark Legacy account, will I have to pay for two accounts?
No, if you use the New Benchmark application, you can cancel your Benchmark Legacy account. You will need to export any contacts from the Benchmark Legacy account and import to your New Benchmark account. If you need help with this transition, please send us an email to support@benchmarkemail.io.
Why are some plans greyed out?
If you are unable to select a plan, it is most likely that your contact count exceeds the contact limit. You will only be able to select plans that fit your current contact count.
See examples below:
If you are on Plan 5,000 and have 2,000 contacts in your account, you will see all plans that fit that number of contacts, including lower plans like Plan 2,500. |

Similarly, if you are on Plan 5,000 with 4,999 contacts, you will only see plans that accommodate your contacts. You will not see a lower plan option. Additionally, you will see a message that says, "You've outgrown this plan's limit." |
