Cancel Account or Downgrade to Free Plan
If there are times of the year when you don’t use email marketing, you can either cancel your paid subscription or downgrade to the Free plan. We recommend downgrading to the Free plan if you anticipate using your account again. This option allows you to retain your data, including email reports, contacts, and contact activity.

Things to know before canceling or downgrading to the Free Plan
- If you cancel your account, you’ll still have access to your data until the end of your billing cycle.
- To downgrade to the free plan, your account must first comply with all the free plan limits.
- For example, the account must have fewer than 500 contacts, only one verified domain (so any additional domains must be removed), and all extra users must be removed, leaving only one user. Click here to learn more.
Cancel Account
- Click on your account avatar.
- Click on Account settings, and then select Plans and Billing.
On the bottom right, select Cancel Account.

- On the next screen, confirm your cancellation by clicking Cancel Subscription.
- Here you'll see your subscription plan name, cost, and the last day of your billing period.
To exit this page, you can also click the Return to Benchmark link.

Downgrade to the Free Plan
Downgrading to the Free plan keeps your account active and allows you to retain access to your existing data, including past email reports. After downgrading, the new plan limits take effect immediately. You won’t be charged moving forward, and any paid capabilities will no longer be available after the downgrade.
Before downgrading, make sure the free account's limits meet your needs.
- 500 contacts
- 2,500 email sends per month
- 1 domain
- 1 user
If your account exceeds these limits, you’ll need to make adjustments, such as deleting contacts, removing extra users, or removing additional domains.
To downgrade to the free plan, follow the steps below:
- Click on your account avatar.
- Select Account Settings.
Next, click on Plans and Billing and choose Change Plan.

On the following page, choose Downgrade to Free.

- Click, Yes, Confirm.
Clicking this will immediately change your account to the free plan and its capabilities.
When you are ready to upgrade your account, go to the Account Settings, select Plans and Billing, and choose Change plan.
