Troubleshooting: Disabled Images and Links

There are several reasons why your images or links may be disabled in your inbox. Here are some examples and ways to prevent or fix them.

Email Client or Inbox-Related Causes

Security or firewall rules

Corporate networks, schools, or government systems may block images or links based on internal policies — even after an email is delivered. This can vary by recipient and is outside the sender’s control.

What you can do:

If this affects specific recipients, they may need to add you as a contact or contact their IT department to allow images coming from your domain. In some cases, you will see a banner message with an option to click "Show Images" or "Download Images."

Tracking or Privacy Protections

Some inbox providers and web browsers limit tracking activity to protect user privacy. This can affect how tracked links or images behave when opened. The email is still delivered, but certain content may not load as expected.

Blocked or Insecure Content

Links or images that use non-secure (HTTP) sources may be blocked by modern email clients.

What you can do:

Always use secure (HTTPS) links for images and landing pages.

Email App Display Settings

Some email apps block images by default or load them only when requested. Others cache content, which can make it appear as if something stopped working when it’s simply a display setting.

What you can do:

In the Inbox Settings, select Always Display External images.

Benchmark Email Security Protections

To maintain platform reliability and prevent misuse, additional security protections apply to accounts sending from shared domains. In certain situations, these protections may temporarily restrict access to specific links or images. These safeguards apply to accounts sending from shared domains.. Accounts sending from a verified domain are not subject to these limitations.

How to Prevent This

We strongly recommend verifying your sending domain.

Domain verification:

  • Improves trust and deliverability
  • Ensures consistent access to links and images
  • Protects your sender reputation
