How to add Contacts

There are different ways you can add contacts to your account: import a CSV file or add individual contacts. In this article, we'll walk you through both ways of adding contacts to your account.

Things to know when importing a file:

  • Any empty or missing values in your file will be uploaded as blank values in the corresponding columns.
  • If the same email address is imported multiple times, the latest import will update your contact's information. If a contact cannot be matched, their information will remain unchanged.
  • You can only import files in CSV format that are encoded in UTF-8. Files with other encodings are not supported.
  • The contact file can not exceed 100MB.
  • Characters per field: 1,000 (we will keep the first 1,000 characters and truncate the rest).
  • Contact size: up to 60 KB per contact
  • Tags per import: 1,000 unique tags maximum (tags exceeding this limit are skipped).
  • Ensure that your file has labeled fields: the labels should be in the first row of your file. If the field labels are missing, the list will not be imported.
  • Contact List that includes tags; ensure they are separated by commas within the same cell or in separate columns.
  • Lists imported are subject to sampling: this process involves reviewing the quality of your contact list and removing contacts that should not be imported.
  • Last Modified: the date when the contact record was last updated, including unsubscribes.
